I sent Hiding in Plain Sight to Laura Kingsley, my editor, with the comprehensive edits yesterday. Comprehensive means, in this instance, 'does the freaking story make sense?' and its up to her to find the pot holes (yeah, them 'plot' holes) that makes the story legible. Oh, who am I kidding? Understandable is a better word.
Next is the line edits...the stuff I get the emails about. Word choice, use of commas (yeah, I'm the Comma Queen!), voice and tense use. Laura is great at it and while I don't look forward to the work involved in getting it right...I do look forward to Laura telling me what IS right. You know what I mean, right?
I've been working on A Grantham Christmas and, truthfully, I am having so much fun working with my original characters. Although, I may be too close to them to address their issues of a first Christmas together to do them justice. I mean, how do you envision Jake and Cait interacting on their first holiday together? Dex and Leila (...his Elle)? Much less, the funny Marianne and her Ram with all their cultural differences? I mean, seriously? And then there's the whole Crys & Gabe stuff as well as Zoe and Trevor's wedding.
I do, as ever, hope this finds each and every one of you starting to gather your gratitude list towards you, recognizing that there isn't anyone of us that can move forward until we grateful for what has gone before.
