I've been preparing for this Sunday's Weekend Writers Warrior 8-sentence challenge. Think I'm going to go with a snippet from Tap Dance, the Grantham book where the little curvaceous Marianne gets together with Ram Patel, the new Chief of Police. They've had the hots for one another since he met her while waiting for Caitlin in Pole
Dance. And, I must admit, I love me some of his smokin' hot Asian, sub-continent, style.
Did you check out www.wewriwa.com yet? If you haven't, please do. Click on any author's name on the list and you'll be taken to their website/blog in order to read their 8 sentence snippet. I found five books last week and, so far, four (the only amount I've read) have
been a joy!
Also, I'm starting a new feature at Casa de Hornbuckle by interviewing authors who's books I've discovered and loved. Just waiting to hear back from some of the writers I've approached and will give you the line up later.
I'm even thinking to ask to interview characters because some of my recent reads have uncovered people I'd really like to get to know better. Is it wrong to find certain fictional people so interesting you want (read: need) to know more about?
Anyone one of the fictional type you'd like to know more about? Email me. It never hurts to ask and I have no problem asking. All they can do is say 'no', right?
Bewitchments is with the Editor (Laura Kingseley) but I'm going to have to send her the new draft since my girl, Rita (big hugs, sweetie!), found a couple of timeline issues when bringing in the other characters in from Grantham. Specifically when Zoe (heroine of Bewitchments 1) takes a line dance class from our Crazy Crys.
I'm working through story #1 of A Grantham Christmas (...tentatively called 'A Bad-Ass X-Mas') which tells of Jake and Cait's first major holiday together. The book, which I hope to have out by mid-December (...and, NO, Maria. You can't hold me to the timeline, okay?) will include a story from each of our five couples: Jake & Cait, Dex & Leila, Marianne & Ram, Crys & Gabe as well as Zoe & Trevor (from the upcoming Bewitchments 1). With additions of Frank-kay and Stan in them (because, honestly, how could you not have 'em in the mix?).
Plus I'm still working through the story which gives us a glimpse into the drop-dead and oh-so-smooth Niko. It's not his story, but any time I can get a glance at him is a treat. He's slated for his HEA (happily ever after) with Bewitchments 2 coming sometime in 2014. (Stop, Maria. Do NOT pencil it into your calendar!)
Fall is just around the corner and Christmas is just over the hill. Seems like this year is flying by for me.
How about you?
Would love to hear from you but, in the meantime, hoping you all are happy and healthy. Remember, I'm just on the other side of the keyboard...
Smiling and waving into the heat of another Phoenix afternoon,
